The RPA market explained

Each and every day, many new technology start-ups are founded. Each is driven by a mutually shared passion for automations. And yet, each is unique in the market. They all have their own spot in the market because of their unique selling proposition. Consequently, your decision to choose the right automation company becomes more and more complex.

So, which processes are available for automation today? How is the market structured? Why should I opt for Ad Astra Industries?

The possibilities are actually endless. In our other blogs, we present some specific use cases of automations within the accountancy or real estate sector that can in fact be relevant to any company.

What are the possibilities?

There are different types of technologies out there on the market to automate different sorts of tasks. Thus, there are several terms in the market that may still be unfamiliar to you:

One of them being Document Processing software converts paper documents into digital documents. This is not a fancy term for scanning in a document. It implies more. This software can extract both the structure and content of a document. Thanks to Natural Language Processing (NLP), we can interpret a document and classify it according to the required criteria in the right folder. So this automation process is called Document Processing and it is essential for the growth of any pioneering company.

The next step usually is: Robotic Process Automation (RPA). This is where a programmed little robot takes over the boring, repetitive tasks from an employee. This allows the employee to focus on what they consider important. The robot can work 24/7 wherever and whenever you want. For example, by combining document processing and RPA, you can make time-consuming, manual tasks work almost autonomously. For example, a signed contract can be analyzed via document processing. This allows us to know who, for example, signed the contract for a specific order and at a given cost. This data is put into your own system by the robot in the same way as an employee would. If there is an exception or if certain data would be incomplete, the robot will let you know immediately.

Furthermore, it is also possible to use data analysis to determine how to optimize automated processes. This is called Process Mining.

How is the market structured?

The RPA market is basically dominated by a few larger companies. The business model of these companies is something called a walled-garden. This is actually a closed ecosystem in which all automation stays within the walls of the large company. Within these closed walls you can automate and manage your processes. But if you wish to change your robot provider, you cannot take your automations outside the “walled-garden”. As a result, you are in fact dependent on the other enterprise from automation 1 onwards, which means they have you in your power. In our opinion, this is not the way to build a healthy relationship in both the short and long term.

Such large “walled-garden” companies tend to market drag-and-drop automation technology. This enables you to automate your processes yourself. However, to do this, you first need a training course of several days. Since your employees have never used this before, they will more than likely make mistakes in the beginning where they aren’t aware of. As a result, valuable time is again lost and the employees will not use this technology. The employees here are also responsible for which processes they want to see automated. They often have to work these out completely autonomously which sometimes prevents them from doing so.

So what does Ad Astra Industries do differently?

rpa process

We go against the “walled-garden” philosophy of the major players in the RPA market. Nor are we advocates of the drag-and-drop principle. That is why we write the Python code ourselves. This allows you to continue working on your core activities while we automate your processes according to your wishes. In order to maintain a healthy relationship between our customers and Ad Astra Industries, we provide them with the Python code. This allows them to leave our company whenever they wish. However, they are now in charge of the continued operation of their automations.

Furthermore, we also provide companies with our expertise in behavioral psychology. This helps companies in the start-up, introduction and implementation of robots within companies. As a result, employees see the robot as a valuable colleague that relieves them of their boring, repetitive work thanks to our different perspective on the value of such implementations.

The majority of large RPA companies focus on one of the many different capabilities and steps within automations. Ad Astra Industries, unlike its competitors, can truly be seen as a one-stop shop. From start to finish and even after, we will guide you in identifying, evaluating, automating and implementing all the possible automations of your existing business processes.
